Ten of Swords tarot card

The Card

A figure lies motionless, face down in a dark landscape, ten swords buried in his back. The sky above is black cloud — but at the horizon, golden light breaks. Water reflects the scene. It is as bad as it can be. The sun still rises.

Symbolism

Ten is the number of completion — this cycle is over. Nine swords would have been enough; the tenth marks total finality. The golden horizon is the card's promise: this ending is also a dawn. The water reflects the scene without distorting it — the truth of this moment.

Upright

Rock bottom — which is also where rebuilding begins. A figure lies face down with ten swords in his back. The sky above is dark, but the horizon glows gold. This is a painful, definitive ending. It is also the lowest point — meaning the only direction is up.

Reversed

Recovery, surviving the worst, rising after the lowest point, inevitable change.
